CHOOSING A BALL

Every ball holds up to 350 pounds, which means that most people can do Yamuna Body Rolling™. Balls are chosen to use depending on one's age and condition. You should feel comfortable on the ball; this work is not about "no pain, no gain."

THE YELLOW BALL
We recommend that most people start with the softer yellow ball. Once you can do the routines safely and easily on this ball, can graduate to the red one.
- Both women and men over 65 should always begin YBR using the yellow ball for the back, abdomen, side, and armpit.
- Men should use the yellow ball to work the neck and chest.
- Anyone with fluid buildup in their legs should use this ball if the red one is uncomfortable for the leg routines.
- People who are injured or have bone disorders should also use the yellow ball.

THE RED BALL
The red ball is the hardest ball; it offers the most detail for muscle-specific work and the deepest tissue release.
- You can start on the red ball if you’re flexible, strong, and muscularly and skeletally in good shape.
- People of any age can use the red ball on their legs if it feels comfortable.

THE GREEN BALL
The green ball is also soft, with a density like that of the yellow ball. However, since it is smaller, it will produce a more intense sensation, so be cautious in suggesting it.
- Women can use this ball for the chest and the front of the neck.

As a safety measure, always use the yellow ball for the side routine and the green or yellow ball for the chest.

CHOOSING BALLS FOR SPECIFIC CONDITIONS

Pregnancy. Pregnant women should use the yellow ball for all routines except the chest and the front of the neck, where they should use the green ball. They should not use Foot Savers during pregnancy, but they can use Foot Wakers.
Injury. Always seek the advice of your physician first and then we suggest working with a practitioner before working on your own. The yellow ball is most commonly used when working with an injury, unless the area is so small that the yellow ball doesn’t fit into it such as the neck or armpit.
Post-surgery. Wait until your physician says that the incision has healed (this generally means at least 10-12 weeks)to begin working at the point of incision. Then use the yellow ball.
Extreme rigidity. Where there is considerable muscle tightness and rigidity of bone, begin with the yellow ball (or the green ball in smaller areas).
Osteoporosis; osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis; lumbar and thoracic disk herniation; fibromyalgia; autoimmune illness; spinal surgery with inserted rods; hip replacements; spinal rigidity. For all these conditions, use the yellow ball.
Chemotherapy and radiation. These treatments alter bone and soft-tissue quality, so be sure to use the yellow ball.
Medications. Cortisone, prednisone, and other steroids damage tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. So do blood thinners, cholesterol-lowering drugs, and high-blood-pressure drugs. If a person is taking any of these medications, be sure that s/he works only with the yellow ball.
